Overcoming Vitiligo for a Successful Wafid (GAMCA) Test - Your Comprehensive Guide
- 18-09-2023
Do candidates need to keep fast before attending the Gamca medical test? If you are about to apply for a GCC Visa to work in any of the GCC nations (Oman, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia), and your brain is buzzing with the same question, then you have landed at the right place. In this blog, we are going to clear doubts about fasting and GAMCA/WAFID medical tests in detail. So, let’s dive deep….
No matter what test it is, tests are always playing on your nerves, and the Gamca (GCC Approved Medical Centers Association) medical test is no exception. But, a common question asked by the candidates is “Do I require fasting before the exam?”. The answer depends on the tests you need to undergo during the Gamca or Wafid medical examination. While a few tests require fasting, some do not. But you need to understand it properly to clear your exam smoothly. Right? Let’s do it…
Cholesterol or Lipid Profile Test: If the medical testing for Gamca includes the Lipid Profile or cholesterol test, fasting is required. You must enter the medical test center empty stomach and cannot eat food for 10 hours before the exam. Fasting will help to monitor the cholesterol level precisely.
LFTs or Liver Function Test: If your Gamca exam requires you to undergo the LFTs or liver function test, you need to fast for 10 to 12 hours before the exam. Fasting helps monitor the precise condition of your liver and delivers accurate results.
Blood Sugar Test: If there is a requirement for glucose testing, you need to fast before the medical examination. Fasting helps to measure the accurate blood sugar or glucose in your blood, and you need to keep fast for eight to twelve hours beforehand the test.
Tests like chest x-ray, urine test, hearing and vision test, and other physical examinations do not require fasting.
As we have written earlier in this post, fasting is mandated for a few tests to measure the blood sugar level and cholesterol level accurately. Light or heavy eating in the span of 8 to 12 hours before the exam can alter the medical test results in many ways and can lead to a GAMCA unfit certificate. No one wants to let it happen to himself/herself, right?
1. Eating before the exam can spike the blood sugar level for a temporary basis, but it will come up with a negative outcome.
2. Consumption of oily and heavy food can directly or indirectly impact the lipid profile level and negatively affect the final result.
But, if you don't eat for 8 to 12 hours before the exam, it will help your body to maintain the baseline and provide the accurate status of your health to the medical examiners, as well as on your GAMCA result. However, you can have water to keep yourself hydrated. Also, you can contact the medical center where your examination will take place to schedule it early in the morning. It will help you complete the GAMCA medical examination process without being exhausted by your fast, and complete the whole process smoothly.
